Qualifications: BA (Hons), Reg teacher of the RAD, Associate of NATD and ISTD.

Candy started dancing as soon as she could walk, taught by mum Pat Steel, and attending classes every day of the week. At 11, she won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dance, travelling to London twice a week to be taught by some of the best teachers in the country. At 21, having graduated in Performing Arts, she went on to dance in various contemporary groups, returning to teach with mum and passing her teaching qualifications with flying colours.

Teaching has always been her passion and ballet in particular. She taught at Wycombe Abbey School for 22 years, making ballet one of the most popular extra curricular activities in the school, with a third of pupils taking classes!

She took over the running of the Pat Steel School as Pat’s health began to fail and set up the Bucks School of dance with fellow teacher, Karen in 2010.

She is very proud of the school’s legacy and remains as committed today to encouraging and nurturing a love of dance in young people as Pat Steel was 60 years ago.
